Low Maintenance (And Fun) Lists

When I was growing up, every weekend started with 'Chores Day' for my brother, sister and I. Dusting, vacuuming, washing sinks - we all had our designated jobs to complete.

While I never wholly learn to love this day, I did form out a way to make it more fun. Without a doubt the best part of this weekly routine was writing up my Saturday Chores List. Oh yes - my chore duties never changed but this list was a must! It's as if I was born with the love of list- development built right into my Dna.

In the beginning, a friend and I wanted to buy jigsaw puzzles for the summer literacy program at our church. We went to the toy store, walking up isolate aisles to see what we could find. We saw puzzles featuring cartoon characters, but not puzzles that build character and cultural awareness. We got to the end of the aisles. "We ought to make puzzles," we said at almost the same time.
