Caregivers - Move Over, Mom is interesting in!

Mom was the youngest of 8, I am the youngest of 4 and my husband is the youngest of 3. Mom did her best to be independent as long as she could, but the day came when she needed help. This is the day most of us have either experienced or will in the future.

She lived in California, we lived in Nevada. I didn't get to spend much time with her while the short visits of traveling back and forth and I looked transmit to Mom advent to stay with us.

We moved our furniture from the scholar bedroom into the smaller guest room, to give Mom more room. However, it did take some convincing that all of the furniture from her condo would not fit into the scholar bedroom. Giving her the larger bedroom made the most sense as she would probably spend a lot of her time there. It was piquant and sunny with lots of windows and a slider to the patio over seeing the swimming pool.

I set up a card table next to a window for her to work her crossword and jigsaw puzzles on. I also hung a hummingbird feeder just exterior the window. Mom all the time loved hummingbirds. She would talk to them whenever they came to drink from her feeder in California; I think she even named a few.

Our lifestyle changed once Mom moved in. It was more me than her. I think she would have been fine, but I had a tendency to worry about her when we weren't home. She loved to chase our Springer Spaniel nearby the swimming pool even though she never learned how to swim. She would say it was great practice for both of them, never giving a opinion about what would happen if she fell in.

One time she tried to toast bread in the microwave oven. Another time she used Dawn liquid detergent in the dishwasher, which was quit a sight. Have you ever had soapy bubbles trail from the kitchen into the hall and onto the floor covering in your living room? What Fun! Of course, she would never do this intentionally, she opinion she was doing the right thing, bless her heart!

Mom saved everything, including the cardboard paper towels are rolled on. When we returned from grocery shopping she would roll up the plastic bags nearby the cardboard one bag at a time so when a bag was needed it could be neatly taken off the cardboard roller. My husband teased her about being the "Bag Lady", which she thoroughly enjoyed. Mom loved to tease and loved being teased. There were many times my sides would hurt from laughing so hard watching the two of them.

Several years later it became significant to move Mom to an assisted living home. I did a lot of explore until I found a home I felt would best fit her needs. Then I checked with the better company Bureau and the County condition agency to see if any complaints had been filed. The home was within 5 miles of our house and was house owned and operated. I arranged for Mom to visit for a few hours some times a week so she could become acquainted with the residents and staff, making it a flat transition when the day came for her to move. We were invited to stay for some meals and I must say; to my surprise the food was very good.

We would visit her on Sundays and take a extra treat. She loved chocolate ice cream and hard peppermint candies, the ones with red or green strips were her favorite. Mom was funny...she would unwrap a red peppermint and put it in her mouth and then ask for a green one. I would say, Mom you already have one and when you are ended with it, I will give you another. She would say, but I have two cheeks and I need Another one to make them even. I was afraid she might choke. She would put up such a fuss, she reminded me of a two or three year old who didn't get their way. Of course, I gave in and guess what? Mom never choked, it was more me than her. Mom was in her nineties by this time.

Every holiday we would bring Mom home and she would spend the night. A convert of clothes, a bag of Depends and meds accompanied her. We noted Birthdays, Easter, Mother's Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and the times house or friends came to town for a visit. As the years past, I began to wonder if this would be the last time Mom would be strong sufficient to come to our house.

On her 95th Birthday I recorded her singing her beloved wee song she had made up about how she took all her troubles and just threw them away. She sang that song so often that it became part of her legacy. I told her I was going to have it engraved on her tombstone, which I did; "She took all her troubles and just threw them away". Citizen who visit the cemetery may not have a clue what it means, but we know and I think she is delighted. I dedicated a webpage to Mom on the day she left this world for a better place. It wasn't long before Mom beginning showing signs of dementia; her biggest fear was forgetting, she said she was so frustrated because she couldn't remember anything. I would smile and say; at least you can remember that you can't remember which means you can remember something. She said she never opinion of it that way and then she would laugh. I made a memory book for her of her baby pictures, childhood and house pictures, the home she grew up in, wedding pictures of her and dad, their first home together, the homes that followed, the children's pictures in chronological order, the grandchildren and great grandchildren. I put a label under each photo with dates, the name/names of Citizen and place. She found the memory book to be helpful in remembering the past.

Fortunately, years earlier Mom had signed a Living Will and had a pre-need plan for her funeral arrangements. She had even picked out her coffin and burial plot. So, when the time came for her final resting place and arrangements, all things had been taken care of by her. There was no guess work on our part, which was a huge relief when going straight through a difficult time. I feel she even orchestrated her funeral. I love the hymn, In the Garden, but after she passed I kept hearing Mom singing How Great Thou Art, I hadn't heard her sing that hymn in over thirty years. So I said okay Mom, the song played at your funeral will be, How Great Thou Art and it was.

It may not have all the time been easy having Mom move in with us, but those are years and times I will all the time treasure and be grateful for. Was she the best Mother, probably not, was she the best mother she knew how to be, absolutely!

So, if you need to move over because Mom or Dad are piquant in remember the time will pass quickly, make the most of it and have no regrets. We do not get the chance to do it over, so give it your best, get the preserve you need and cherish your memories; you will be glad you did!

Bottom line: Ultimately, it all comes down to trial and error.

Select response-oriented media
A key to all this is measuring responses. You're finding how you're doing as you move along. In order to achieve this, you need to advertise in places that deliver quantifiable data about the results. Otherwise, the advertising will all the time be seen as an expense -- one that can be cut when times get tough.

You're purchasing leads and customers
You want to say, "We're not spending money on advertising. We're purchasing sales leads and new customers." Here is a way to tabulate these purchases. It is a comparison of three separate mailers.

As you see what works the best ("Bolts" is a real winner), you can ramp it up. Send the mailer to more people, and buy more customers for less money.

Advancing before all the results are in
Typical trialing (like the kind you just read about) isn't practical in most cases, probably because:
* You're advertising in a medium that doesn't allow split runs.
* You're tantalizing swiftly, and you can't wait for indicators.

The solution is to leapfrog.

Leapfrogging
The best way to by comparison leapfrogging is with an example. Let's say it's November 20, and you have to place magazine insertions. You decree to originate three positive ads, and run...
* approach 1 in the January issue
* approach 2 in the February issue
* approach 3 in the March issue

Now it's February 12, so you're counting responses from the January and February insertions. Also, you've already committed approach 3 for March. The quiz, is: What should you run in April?

You understanding the January approach would deliver loads of responses (that's why you ran it first), but it brought in only a handful. However, your February ad is showing promise.

For April, and you decree to rerun approach 2. Therefore, that promising February ad is leapfrogging over March and going into April. Also, it will probably come to be the basis for your long-term campaign. But the March ad could still come to be your best performer.

Some points about leapfrogging:
* Rather than running one approach for three months and risking having a three-time loser, you're giving yourself three opportunities to succeed.

* This method gives you more time to work up those ads. The March ad didn't have to be completed until two months after the January ad -- thank goodness. If you did a split-run and produced three ads at the same time, that would have been a triple burden. Also, if a person is unhappy with the tone in the January ad, you can reply, "I'll make sure our next ad doesn't come over that way."

Jumpstarting a unabridged campaign
It would be remarkable if we had time to experiment with approaches. However, throughout life you'll have few opportunities to trial. Maybe you'll need a new image for an upcoming trade show. Maybe you'll only have three weeks to commence a campaign for the crucial selling season. Whatever. Most times, you have one chance, and it has to produce.

You can pull this off, and here is how. You run separate ads that...
* Promote separate appeals
* Keep a similar optical theme

For example, you decree upon an auto-racing theme. You originate three ads with one unabridged optical (racecars) and three separate messages:
1. Power. Show racecar being fueled.
2. Speed. Show one car overtaking another.
3. Control. Show hand on a gearshift.

Run the ads, count the responses from each, and outline that one of these messages will outpace the others. Then, shift the direction of your campaign toward that message. Also, if one of the three ads has a weak response, don't fret. It still contributed to your unabridged racing theme.

The world's fastest pretest
Before you finalize those three ads, e-mail them to prospective customers and ask, "What do you think of these?" habitancy enjoy being asked, and you'll learn a lot.

Assessing accountability for success or failure
You run ads and send out direct mailers, and you achieve success. All right! The quiz, is: What made the campaign a winner -- the ads or the mailers...or the Pr...or the word of mouth?

Advice: Make high-speed progress, because then nobody can catch you.

You might not have any time to gather, and you can still come up with an excellent strategy. How? You put your head back, close your eyes, and think: "The competitors seem to be going [these ways]. The prospects want it [this other way]. Let's advertise [this other way] and sell the heck out of this stuff." And you do.

He had drank a full bottle of Jack Daniel's empty, he had it in a paper sack, he liked the best, if he was to drink at all, he drank the best, and he drank that liquor in particular, because his name matched. He said to himself: "I'm glad they're dead! They had a death coming-both of them.

When he got married he married a Catholic woman, in a Catholic Church, never went out on his wife, never idea to do it. Kulin Schultz, was muscular, with a most pleasant face, ten years younger than Jack Daniel, and five years older than his wife, Anna Lee Daniel, and Kulin, was forty. She was of a light brown race, and Kulin was a black German-Jew, Jack was Caucasian.

And so the love affair and this case in point, advanced along these lines intricate as a rat's maze, especially in the wintry hotel on the outskirts of the township.

(Jack now is sitting in his room finding back at the situation, he is cozy in his itsybitsy cottage like home, after all, this affair with Kulin and Anna had gone on and off for a year, and he now is talking to himself about it-seemingly at peace with it.)

"The remarkable thing is, not a soul seems to know whatever about this case, and it's hard not quite to believe it."

Ss(His Mind's eye, or his second self): "There are reasons for that."

"Whatever they are it is like a jigsaw puzzle to me now, I'll never been able to put it all together, after the fact."

Ss: "I shall begin from the beginning, go over it with you, and take a look at what's inside of you."

"I think of all the beast on earth without a doubt, man is the most hateful...the only one who inflicts pain for the sport of it, who lives and dies with a nasty mind."

Ss: "Are you regretting what you did to Anna and Kulin?"

"I should be, shouldn't, I?"

Ss: "Well, you filled up two coffins; I guess that is what you might call a good beginning."

"He was a lawyer, right?"

Ss: "Wrong, he was a policeman."

"Eh, that's right, I forgot."

Ss: "He was a happy-go-luck kind of fellow, policeman!"

"Whose side are you on?"

Ss: "Amazing isn't it, nobody appears to know a thing about this case."

"Didn't we say that before?"

Ss: "Yes, I suppose we did. It didn't take you long to form out how to murder both of them."

"Someone, I think you, immediately, an hour after I saw them in the hotel, doing you know what-that's something I'll never forget. Anyhow, that's when I got reasoning about revenge, and pain."

Ss: "Go back, impart it exactly to me."

"Why don't you do it?"

Ss: "Okay, I will. Neither one had an enemy. The police couldn't trace it to anyone. Everybody liked them, and you even pretended to like them. The morning was cold and snowy, and when Kulin went and left the hotel to get something in his car, and to warm it up to take Anna home-wam! One of the three rats you put into the car bit him-one after the other that is, all three injected with amphetamine, to make them hyper and wild and more vicious. They tore him apart. The police idea it was crazy, some Satanic group from out of town playing a trick, it was Halloween, wasn't it. They bit his arms, cheeks, legs, hands scratched out his eyes. He of course didn't die instantly."

"I hope not!"

Ss: "I know that is one hope you of course hoped for. And then Anna, who would have ever idea of using liquid nicotine-and Anna being a chain smoker, a pure poison, fast, powerful, colorless, odorless, and it killed her with one big gulp of Jell-O. And they didn't think of you because you didn't fit the pattern of a murderer, and you got that 0,000-dollars insurance."

"I wasn't reasoning of that at the time, maybe it got lost in my mind, but it wasn't there when I idea all this up."

Ss: "You mean, when we both idea all this up. What are you going to do about Alvaro's Baptism? You are a well-to-do man now."

(Twisting his lips hissing and snorting...)

"Good question. It's hard to say now. But damned if I will go back to a church and beg them to do what they're suppose to do again, and had they done it in the first place, I do believe I would not have had to drink all that Jack Denial's down this evening.

The Kabbalah Kraze!

I remember hearing a minister years ago as he quoted Dwight L. Moody. He said, "There are two types of religion in the world: Biblical Christianity...and all the rest." Similarly, an additional one minister I listened to later said, "The only two religions that exist in the world are Christianity and Hinduism...because Hinduism allows each man to find his or her own truth."

A breed of old Jewish mysticism has recently resurfaced among the rich and famous, enticing those who are uninformed about the dangers of this cult. So, what is the Kabbalah? Where did it come from? How should the Church view the Kabbalah according to Scripture?

I placed this definition on the web: Kabbalah: (Various spellings) meaning: "to receive." Mystical Jewish teachings intermingled with teachings of gnosticism, Neoplatonism, magic and the occult were handed down by oral tradition. The word Kabbalah was coined by an eleventh century Spanish philosopher, Ibn Gabirol. The doctrine advanced in Babylon while the middle ages from earlier Hebrew venture and numerology. An early Kabbalist, Moses de Leon, advanced and systematized the doctrine in his thirteenth century work, The Book of Zolar (sometimes spelled Zohar meaning “Splendor”).

The media is filled with references to Kaballah these days and, as they have with their warmed-over, Westernized verson of reincarnation, important Hollywood personalities are clambering to take hold of this feel-good, popular, contemporary version of Kabbalah. according to the Israeli-based Kabbalist, Michael Laitman, the discovery of the upper spiritual world is the singular truly satisfying acknowledge to the growing demands of the contemporary ego. A scientist by profession, Laitman claims that exposing youngsters of all backgrounds and religions to the authentic Kabbalah sources can significantly reduce the escalating phenomena of drug abuse and suicide in today's society. The brief daily exposure to these texts is extremely recommended for getting youngsters back on track toward fulfilling their true purpose in life.

Judaism Redefined

After the destruction of the Temple in A.D. 70, having rejected Jesus as Messiah, Mosaic Judaism had a major problem. The Torah emphasized that "without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins." So, how could there be a continuation of the required blood sacrifices without an altar and a Temple? This, and other connected issues, required a staff meeting. So, the Council of Jamnia was called in A.D. 90, and began, in essence, redefining Judaism, justifying their beliefs, essentially, and their conjecture for existence. This led to the formulation of the Talmud, the body of writings that seeks the expound the civil law as well as the Law of God contained in Jewish Scripture), together with commentaries on the Torah, or Pentateuch, and oral laws handed down through tradition. Among other things, the Talmud includes materials that concern decisions by Jewish scholars on disputed legal questions known as the Halakhah. Many examples and illustrations of the ethical, political, and religious law complicated in the laws are set down in the Haggada.

Now, two versions of the Talmud exist: the Jerusalem Talmud and the Babylonian Talmud. The Babylonian Talmud became authoritative because the rabbinic academies of Babylonia survived those in Palestine by many centuries. After the completion of the Talmud, the Halakhah continued to create as rabbis adapted it to the changing times. The Haggada was also continually revised.

One of the most important parts of the Talmud is the Mishneh Torah. This was a compilation of all the rabbinical legal literature by various rabbinical commentators in existence at his time. Problems emerged when some Jews began veneration of the commentators over the text itself. Population were focusing too much on the Teachers than their inspired Teachings, much the same as some do today even within Christianity. It is naturally the nature of Population to do so.

Interestingly, in the 8th century, there arose a Jewish sect called the Karaites who clung to the precise interpretations of the Scriptures - let's call them Fundamentalists - rejecting the Talmud and the rabbinical traditions that had been incorporated while the first six centuries. As was mentioned earlier, The Zohar was a monumental work composed by Spaniard Moses de León, who lived in Guadalajara until 1290, before living the life of a wanderer. De León was a prolific writer, completely immersed in mysticism. The Zohar, his many work, was written in Aramaic over a 30 year period. The doctrine taught in his book was deceptively credited by de León to some legendary Palestinian scholar, Shimon ben Yohai, claiming that a Spanish-Jewish master and mystic named Moses ben Nahman had found the book in a cave in which Shimon and his son had found refuge from Roman persecution. When Moses tried to send ben Yohai's important teachings to his son in Catalonia, de León claims he intercepted it and began manufacture copies, which he then circulated among the more educated folk.

De León failed in this endeavor to deceive the world and hide the fact that he was its actual author. In his own lifetime a Palestinian mystic who doubted the authenticity and antiquity of the Zohar, investigated the matter. De León finally promised to produce the original, but died before the matter was settled. One must always intimately observe the founder's background when investigating any philosophical or religious movement. In this case, the author was a deceiver. His Zohar depicted God as merely a noteworthy force that one should aspire to obtain. De Leon taught that God is the unknowable, immutable Ein-Sof (Infinite "Nothingness"). From this doctrine sprang the Kaballah, the name of an occult theosophy that advanced among Jews in Babylonia, and later Italy, Provence, and Spain, in the middle of the sixth and thirteenth centuries A.D.

The doctrine they taught was that heavenly revelation was received by enlightened Jews, and was passed on to succeeding generations through oral tradition. At first it was used by the mainstream of Judaism, but ultimately it became identified with those who believed that the Kabbalah was an esoteric, occultic tradition that explained the true meaning of the Hebrew Scriptures, which was kept private from the masses and only made known to those who were spiritually ready to receive it.
Typically, Kabbalah is divided into two systems: theoretical and practical. The theoretical is involved with theosophical venture upon God and His attributes. The practical is involved with bringing what has been theorized into the realm of daily experience. This is attempted through prayer, ascetic practices, and the employment of various occult means, such as numerology, talismans, amulets, and incarnation of divine names and words.

One Kabbalah belief is that Scripture is inspired, not only in its inevitable interpretations, but even to the degree that, through the use of occult symbol interpretation, one could find private meaning in the very numerical and alphabetical interpretation of the texts. Thus, the doctrine of the Kabbalah was derived through study of the Old Testament, but only when occultic interpretative techniques were utilized.

To give you an historical perspective, Kabbalah grew out of two basic needs in the Jewish consciousness. First, because they had rejected their Messiah, God temporarily rejected the Jewish nation (Luke 13:35), and so, in the centuries that followed, there were no prophets and no immediate manifestation of God's proximity among them. This left them feeling that God was far removed from them and made them more prone to be influenced by the philosophical atmosphere of the Population in whose lands they dwelt. This included Greek; Neo-Platonism and its “Christian” offshoot, Gnosticism. These philosophies had a very transcendent view of God: He is infinite and far removed from any conceivable taste with man. As the Jews embraced increasingly transcendent view of God, they needed to reconcile this with the former Hebrew belief in the accessibility of God to man. This need seemed to be met best through the doctrine of the Sefirot, the attributes or "emanation" of God, the groundwork of which had already been laid by the Gnostics, and Philo of Alexandria, a Jewish philosopher and contemporary of Christ.

The second conjecture for Kaballah's emergence was that, by colse to the twelfth century, Talmudic legalism, ritualism, and intellectual slavery had reached its peak. Kabbalah became beloved because it opened up an advent to religion that seemed more pleasurable, immediate, and less confining.

The Kabbalistic belief is that God, or “Ein Sof," is infinite and transcendent, and can make no direct taste with finite beings like us. We came into existence when the Ein Sof voluntarily petite Himself by allowing Himself to come to be manifest through attributes or "emanation" (the Sefirot), listed as: Crown, Wisdom, Intelligence, Greatness, Strength, Beauty, Firmness, Splendor, Foundation, and Sovereignty. Each emanation would be supplementary removed from the Ein Sof, and thus supplementary from His perfection and transcendence. The Sefirot would be repeated on four dissimilar levels, and these realms, according to descent, were called: “Atziluth” (the world of the supernals, or heavenless), “Briah” (the world of creation), “Yetzirah” (the world of formation), and “Assiah” (the world of material action). Taking on a personal form, these Sefirot, as angels, served as intermediaries in the middle of God and man.

In this theosophy, the Sefirot are viewed as archetypes for all in the world of creation, an insight of their workings make clear to the seeker the inner workings of the universe and all of history. The understanding is that the Zohar provides a cosmic-symbolic interpretation of Judaism, and of the history of Israel, in which the Torah and commandments - as well as Israel’s life in exile - come to be symbols for events and processes in the inner life of God. Interpreted in this way, the allowable observance of the commandments by man takes on a cosmic significance.

That's it. From the get-go, the understanding of Ein-Sof was a tragic endeavor to depersonalize God. After all, no one can describe to an unknowable force. On the other hand, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob Is a knowable, personal God who rejoices over His children with singing and longs to bless them. Jesus said, "When they see me, they've seen the Father." Jesus showed humanity the character and nature of God in the flesh. One author writes, "...any endeavor to chart the “inner life” of the Godhead, by means of the Sefirot or any other, is akin to “uncovering the Father’s nakedness,” a sin of grave disrespect emphasized in the Tenach itself!"

The disciplines of Kabbalah consist of meditative practices that promise to enable individuals to share and share in the diverse dimensions of God’s being. Kabbalistic discipline was also petite to the elite who were extremely educated in the texts of Talmudic Judaism prior to their immersion in Kabbalistic studies. Kabbalistic communities soon advanced (not unlike today's Kabbalh Centre), ordinarily organized as private societies of disciples that gathered colse to a specially gifted mystical instructor (Tziddik). Such communities soon spread all over Europe with increasingly broad request for retrial among learned Jews - the rich and sublime wannabee's, if you will. As the Berg's stated while their 20/20 interview, even though one may not even read Hebrew, the very act of merely seeing at the Kaballah will command a blessing!

What should be the Christian response to Kabbalah?
There are many other aspects of Kabbalah that one can crusade out on this branch to expose the errancy of this theosophy. Don't waste your time...read your Bible instead. I can hear an old friend of mine saying, "Let the Kabbalah movement grow! Its followers will finally come up empty. seeing that it leaves them wanting, we, The Church, must be there to show them unconditional love of Jesus. That is all they were ever seeing for in the first place!"

Prayer is the many response to the "Kabbblah Kraze." In today's occult revolution where every dimension of the occult is being explored, there has been a revived interest in Kabbalah among both Jew and Gentile. Yes, its Jewish origin makes it unique, but Kabbalah is still essentially an occultic practice, and is thus incompatible with the Judaeo-Christian faiths. Its Pantheistic theology teaches that all reality springs directly from God's own essence. Even if one believes that these emanations from God's essence have gone through a descent of ten spheres on four dissimilar levels, the windup is inevitable that even he who is on the bottom level is still of one essence with God; and thus, ultimately, that private Is God. This belief is nothing short of Pantheism.

Pantheism is a understanding that is incompatible with the biblical understanding God, who created the world out of nothing, not out of Himself. In Genesis 1:1, the Hebrew word for “create” is “bara,” referring to something coming out of nothing. Genesis 1:1 debunks Pantheism, the belief that God is In the creation and Is the creation. God is the tree? He is the rock? He is the building? He is the air? Pantheism holds that God permeates, and, therefore, Is all.

I recall a debate with a believer in Pantheism where I asked him if God was in those bird droppings on the fence before us. I believe I heard his mental wheels come to a screeching halt for a moment. "Come now," I said, urging him not to check his brain at the door, "your beliefs are either certainly true in all instances or they aren't true at all." Pantheism, for those who aren't aware, is a non-biblical world view. The understanding is, basically, that only the spiritual dimension exists. Pantheists refer to the perception of material reality as maya, which means illusion. Some Pantheistic religions consist of Hinduism, Buddhism and Taoism. Pantheism also forms the basis for Transcendental Meditation and some aspects of New Age mysticism. It should not be confused with believing that God is omnipresent. God Is omnipresent. He is everywhere at once. David could say, "...if I ascend up into heaven, thou (God) art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there," (Psalm 139:8). But God is Not the created world. In fact, He is completely External to the created world. Worship belongs to the Creator, not His creation. Paul tells us in Romans 1:25 that there will be those "Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator...."

God is connected to the world as a sculptor is connected to his sculpture, or as an artist is connected to his painting, and I am connected to this message on my computer screen right now. The sculptor is not the sculpture. The artist is not the painting. The writer is not the writing. The sculpture, painting, and writing are productions. They are produced by the One that creates, and what one creates, can be created again. Maybe it will be dissimilar or it may be better.

God is infinite; He existed before the world existed. He still exists, co-existing with the universe and allowing you and me, through Christ Jesus, to come to be co-laborers with Him for we Are seated with Him in heavenly places. That's present tense. The universe is finite, having a very exact beginning and ending. The universe will end. Scientists conjecture that the sun will shine about five million more years. Then in a great burst of energy, it will swell up, engulf and consume the planets before shrinking into a white dwarf. They claim the sun will ultimately burn itself out, and the whole universe will come to a great cataclysmic end. God only knows. The Bible says that heaven and earth Will pass away (Matthew 24:35). It also states, "...the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, ...the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up," (2 Peter 3:10). 1 Timothy 6:16 says that "the Lord only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can advent unto."

God created all just by speaking it into existence. It was not difficult. He's God, you know. "Let there be light and there was light" (Genesis 1:3). Poof! "Let the waters bring forth and they brought forth, Let the earth bring forth and it brought forth" (Genesis 1:20,24). Poof! God was not put to a test to make the universe. Some say, "Mankind was a more difficult product!" God formed Adam out of the dust of the ground; we must not have been Too tough. Like a mud pie maybe. Poof! He took a rib from Adam's side, spoke a word, and turned it into a woman. Poof! That was not hard for God. This whole creation was not such a magnificent yield where God was concerned. To us, it is certainly unfathomable. With just a petite word, it all came to be. It was certainly easy for the Creator. Genesis1:31declares that in six days, it all came to be, naturally through spoken words.

Imagine having that kind of an all-pwerful inventor God handling your measely, temporal problems! He Wants to!

Although Kabbalists' insistence upon the inspiration of Scripture in its literal form was commendable, their carrying this point to the extent of seeking to find private meaning in its numerical arrangements was just plain unnecessary. Logically speaking, couldn't we apply Kabbalistic methods to practically any piece of literature and draw practically any interpretation from it? "Green eggs 'n Ham" by Dr. Seuss might take on a profound new meaning! Their formula of interpretation is neither acknowledged in the Bible, nor justified by it. The application of this formula to the Bible have produced interpretations that are not supported by Scripture, and, in fact, produced something directly opposed to it.

To any Christian individuals considering the Kabbalah, I would say this: In the words of author Chick Missler, "Recognize that your adventure as a trainee is unfinished. “Now we see through a glass darkly; then, face to face.” Like a giant jigsaw puzzle, each piece takes its significance in how it fits in among those already in place. Forcing it only causes distortions. Sustain judgment until all the key pieces are in place."

You may be dissatisfied or disillusioned with your most holy Chrsitian faith but, as my wise ol' mom used to say, "You get out of it what you put into it." Are you studying the Scriptures daily? Fellowshiping with strong believers? Praying? And if you're praying, what is the Spirit saying? Are you listening to His still, small voice? As a disciple, are you practicing the disciplines of the faith, following the examples and studying the teachings set by Christ Himself? If not, then it's no wonder Christianity is leaving you hungry. The yummy banquet has been set before you...but no one's going to force you to partake.
Remember the wise counsel of Paul: "Beware lest any man spoil you through doctrine and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ," Colossians 2:8.

Yes, Beware!

Bottom line: Kabbalah is a mystical, spiritual teaching that emphasizes private knowledge (old-fashioned gnosticism, addressed by Paul in Colossians, that's still colse to today). This private knowledge stands in direct opposition to the way God communicates naturally with us through His Word. "Kabbalah uses animistic law of superstitious practices to endeavor to exert control over the world: numerology, talismans, amulets, and incarnation of divine names and words," to quote from an description on Kabbalah by the Christian research Institute.

Currently, the Kabbalah is spreading like wildfire, arresting disenchanted Jews, Christians and Celebs in its wake as many, if they are not abandoning their former faith all together, are trying to create some sort of hybrid faith by using a smorgasbord technique.

The Pleasing touch With Kids

It is a pleasure buying children's gifts. When children receive gifts their faces light up with joy and it can be pleasing to watch. The motion of Skill Games

The definition of a game of skill is a game where the consequent is determined commonly by reasoning and/or physical skill, as opposed to pure occasion or luck.

The request for retrial of these games lies in the fact that not only do players revel in the challenge and the wide range of game choices/types, but also the mention of checkers, dominoes, hangman and jigsaw puzzles brings on fond childhood memories. Most of us then graduated to rummy, backgammon, scrabble and the ultimate challenge-chess.

Jigsaw Name Puzzles

While skill games will never replace casino gambling online or off in popularity, it is a universal internet topic with a multitude of sites contribution free or tournament play.

I classify 7 skill game types as follows: Card, Board, Dice, Tile, Word, Puzzle and Sports Games.

As skill games is such a broad topic and could not be covered in a singular article, I will

present examples for each game type and offer a brief narrative and/or history for each. 

1) Card Games: use a deck of cards as their central tool. Examples are Rummy, Bridge and Canasta. Rummy has many 'cousins' or versions. To name a few, there is the world famous, Gin Rummy along with Oklahoma Gin, Knock Rummy, Continental, 500 Rum or Pinochle, Kalookie and Pan or Panguingue.

2) Board Games: assert turn-based play in that one player's move/strategy is followed by their opponents' move/strategy. Players can only move at their turn. Examples are chess, checkers and backgammon.

The origins of these board games go back centuries. Chess became so beloved that other games took second place during the middle ages. It's not safe bet if chess was invented by one or more people, but warfare was a likely intuit for its development.

Checkers is believed to have originated in the desert country of Egypt where it was known as Alquerque around 650 Bc, though there are caves from 1400 Bc that depict Alquerque like images.

The game was played by philosophers and thinkers such as Plato and Homer as it provided an huge reasoning challenge.

3) Dice Games: use a whole of dice as their central tool. Board games often use dice to determine a player's standing in the game; however, dice alone commonly don't determine the outcome of the game in relation to other characteristics like strategy or skill. Examples are Sic Bo, Yahtzee and Poker Dice.

Poker Dice is one of the most famed dice games, especially online. The dice display representations of playing cards instead of numbers. Each of the six sides describe Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten and Nine that are used to form a Poker hand. The object of the game is to make the best poker hand.

4) Domino/Tile Games: apply a central tool of a set of tiles called dominoes that have two ends, each with a given whole of dots or pips. Therefore, each mixture has 2 possible values and each domino is unique in the set. Most domino/tile games are 'card games without the cards'. Examples are Dominoes, Pai Gow and Mahjong.

Who invented the game of Mahjong? In all probability, this game was devised by Confucious, who traveled in China during that era. He was fond of birds - perhaps that is why the game was christened as Mahjong, which denotes a sparrow. Some experts say that the three cardinal virtues professed by Confucious were represented through three dragon tiles - red, green, and white.

5) Word Games: so many word games, so wee time. A short list of examples is Scrabble, Hangman, Cryptograms, Jotto, Jumble, Acrophobia and Wheel of Fortune.

6) Puzzle Games: puzzle me these examples-Sudoku, Crosswords, the oh, so frustrating--Rubik's Cube along with a group of way cool online puzzles--Bejeweled, Deal or No Deal, Chuggles and Jungle Bubble.

7) Sports Games: merge physical and reasoning skills. Examples are Billiards and Darts.

Sports Games of football, rugby, basketball and soccer wish 'big time' physical and reasoning skills.

During this short trip down memory lane, I am safe bet that you too have discovered the attraction of skill games. Now, how about a game of rummy?
