You are no ifs ands or buts ready to convert the way your body looks, performs and feels and you have realised you need to set a goal.
So you know you want to set a goal. But what do you do now?
Jigsaw Name Puzzles
Well a lot of population would propose have a Smart goal what they mean by this is,
1. Specific
2. Measurable
3. Achievable
4. Realistic
5. Time based
There are parts of this I agree with but as a whole I don't no ifs ands or buts like It.
You See Realistic is the main concern I have with it. As I hate the word realistic. To me this word means settle for less and why should you settle for less. Were all dreamers so why not aim to perform our dreams? Even if we don't perform them to there fullest, If we start out with the intention of achieving them were going to be much closer to achieving them than we would if we had set far less ambitious goals.
You see the main part of goal setting in my thought is excitement about your goal. There needs to be feeling/emotion/excitement behind the idea of achieving your goal. If your goal is not something you no ifs ands or buts want to perform are you going to stick to it with a fine toothpick. I don't think so, you?
So settling for 10lbs in 4 weeks is not going to get you jumping up and down with joy/excitement and put you in a mindset for achieving greatness is it.
So going back to the smart goals there is one section I do no ifs ands or buts do like and that is specific.
You see we need to know where were going. Like on a journey across the country you need a specific building, road name, postcode and town so you know where the destination is. We need the same with your goal.
So what's a specific goal?
Well here's mine for the next month as an example.
I want to sacrifice my waist by 2inches and increase my chest by 2inches giving me more of a triangular look with a solid six pack and graphic obliques. I want slightly bigger arms 16" and stronger legs squatting 120kg bum to the floor. Seeing more athletic, feeling more energetic, confidant and as a whole that I have made a weighty move send this month feeling a sense of achievement.
Can you see how this is a lot more specific than so many pounds this month? You can imagine/see a clear image in your head of what it would and what you will look like. It gets you excited, you can't wait to start and you are in a brilliant mindset where no negativity can get in your way.
So you have set your dream goal but its not that simple
You see it is very easy to set these ambitious goals, but two hurdles occur from setting these.
1. Believing You can perform your goal.
2. How are you going to get from A to B
Your goal is set it sounds amazing, but the qoute comes when you don't believe you can perform it. So lets learn how to jump this hurdle. It's all down to you here, This is all down to your mindset. You can talk yourself out of something very no ifs ands or buts cant you I bet you do it all the time. We all do. "I don't need to do that, I'll do it later, I will never perform that'. You see as a species were very good at Seeing ways why not to do something as opposed to Seeing at why we should do it.
So all we need to do is the opposite of what were doing. We need to stop ourselves telling ourselves no, we need to stop telling ourselves it cant be done. We need to fully believe we can perform the dream and we are going to perform the dream. Yes I know what your mental 'yes Harry its very easy to say that but doing it is a separate story. Well no its not actually, This is where estimate 2 comes in.
You see we all love the feeling of accomplishment. When we have achieved something we get even more excitement to perform even more.
So getting from A - B. If we look at the start and the end destination next to each other it can look like a impossible transition. And yes your right to think that, Rome wasn't made in a day and neither will your dreams.
So we need to look at the journey in the middle of and A and B and divide it into manageable pieces that can no ifs ands or buts be achieved.
You want to get to B within 30 days. So we can divide it into 30 smaller manageable pieces.
There is a phrase that I love and that I live by it's a Japanese word and its Kaisen. It means constant and never ending improvement.
By implementing small manageable sections of the desired goal and using Kaisen at the same time. We are always intelligent in the right direction, we are always accomplishing the desired daily goal and we are permanently enhancing towards our dream on a never ending basis.
Can you see how this journey is not so fantastic all of a sudden is seems completely achievable. The daily goals are so small and easy to achieve. Each one is someone else piece of the puzzle in your jigsaw that is your dream goal.
You see momentum is key. You need to permanently on a daily basis make a definite convert so you are intelligent in the right direction. A day by day basis is easy to achieve. A to B is not so divide your goal into manageable pieces.
So lets summarise
· Be a dreamer don't settle for less
· Be specific on what you no ifs ands or buts want to achieve
· Make sure it completely excites you
· Fully believe in yourself and that you can perform your dreams
· Throw away any negative and stop telling your self No
· Divide your dream goal into small manageable pieces
· Live your life based on the Kaisen law and never stop improving
I wish you the best of look on setting, working straight through and achieving your dream goal.
To your success and achieving your Dreams
